Traditional Cleaning and Boat Detailing Methodology
No matter whether you are a professional boat cleaning detailer, or a private ‘do-it-yourself’ boat detailing enthusiast, the basic step by step concept is the same with regards to boat detailing: wash & scrub… compound & clean… wax & polish. Now that we are all familiar with what steps are required for cleaning and boat detailing your vessel, we can discuss how to go about them in the most efficient way possible. Let’s start the boat detailing process. First, rinse the entire boat with clean, fresh water. This will remove and loosen any dirt, grime, and impurities that may have built up on the finish. Never brush or scrub a dry boat, as this may scratch or damage your boat's finish or clear coat. Use a sponge or washing cloth with soapy water. Garry’s Ultra Wash is a biodegradable and environmentally safe option for this application. [NOTE: Continue using Garry’s Utlra wash as a boat cleaning tool between periodic compound and waxing routines as it will not remove existing surface wax]. Start by lathering up areas at the top of the boat, working your way down. Working from the top to the bottom of the boat will keep suds from running over the already cleaned areas, which would then have to be rinsed again. Lather only one area at a time; if you lather the entire boat, the suds will dry and cause you to have to rewash the cleaned areas again to prevent streaking. After lathering, use your scrub brush to remove any dirt and grime before rinsing. To prevent water spots during the boat cleaning process, use chamois cloths or dry, soft towels to dry off any moisture after washing. Now, the final touch: applying the wax. But wait…. We missed the compounding step? Not exactly… Garry’s Royal Satin cream paste or liquid cleaner wax is specially formulated with a scrubbing compound and oxidation cleaner; along with a polishing carnauba wax all in one. Save time and money while maximizing your cleaning and boat detailing efforts with Garry’s Royal Satin.
